…with 50 corporate volunteers from Facebook Recruitment Team to tackle added value tasks in London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Parks on Tuesday 19th June
Task 1: Hammersmith Park Japanese Garden Pond, team tackled the duckweed and algae in the pond.
The team donned their waders and with nets in hand tackled the duckweed and algae in the pond as part of preparations for the Japanese Garden Festival later in July, ensuring all algae was left around pond margins to allow any pond life safe passage back into the pond before removal later in the week.
Task 2: Cutting back overgrown perimeter vegetation and preparing and turfing area prior to Japanese Garden Festival in the park in late July
With mattocks, spades and rakes in hand and under the expert guidance of Mickey Grimes Head Gardner at Hammersmith Park, the teams set about removing all the perimeter vegetation, prepared soil and turfed beds which left the area ready for the Japanese Garden Festival in the park later in July.
Task 3: Maintenance prune of the Living Willow Maze in Hammersmith Park
With loppers, secateurs and shears, and under the expert guidance of idverde teams, the volunteers pruned, snipped and raked up all arising to ensure visitors to the park can continue to enjoy the maze at Hammersmith Park.
Task 4: Weed and manure rose beds in Wormholt Park
With a trailer of manure secured from Wormwood Scrubs Riding Stables and hoes, forks and pitchforks in hand and under the expert guidance of idverde teams the Facebook teams weeded, turned over the soil and incorporated fresh manure into the beds at Wormwood Scrubs to help the roses on site.
