Transport Day at Steps Ahead Nursery Trowbridge

idverde in partnership with Wiltshire Council attended [our The Steps Ahead] Nursery Transport Day with a selection of vehicles used on their maintenance contract for the children to explore.

On the morning of the visit the idverde, staff members set up the vehicles in the car park ready for the children, aged 18 months to 4 years old, to take the opportunity to inspect the vehicles both internally and externally. The children loved sitting in the driver’s seat, pressing the vehicle buttons, horn and turning the lights on and off including all the flashing beacons.

They then had the opportunity to watch a demonstration of the bright orange tractor. James Andrews, Assistant Contract Manager for idverde, made different parts of the vehicle move to the amazement of the children.

As an additional surprise idverde Community engagement Manager brought over for the children High Visibility Jackets to wear throughout the activity and supported the children’s understanding of recycling and litter picking; which the children then put into practice whilst using the child sized litter pickers.

Steps Ahead Nursery Deputy Manager Heather said; “idverde staff were very professional and friendly towards the children and staff throughout their visit”

“We are looking forward to next year’s visit!”

idverde’s Community Engagement Manager for Wiltshire Council Paul Ashman, commented: “We were pleased to be able to offer our support to our client and the local community for this project. Everyone involved demonstrated great teamwork while working together to support the Transport Day at Steps Ahead Nursery Trowbridge.
