How St John’s Catholic School is Cleaning Up Trowbridge

St John’s Catholic Primary School Litter collection.

idverde in partnership with Wiltshire Council received a request from St John’s Catholic Primary School to get involved with idverde’s local monthly litter picks.

Class 10 wrote to idverde explaining that they consider their school ‘an extremely special place’ and that it encourages them to be change-makers by helping fix issues in the world they see today. The school website refers to the school’s long successful history of supporting and leading charity work in the local neighbourhood: https://www.st-johns-trowbridge.wilts.sch.uk/catholic-life-and-mission/

The school were determined to continue this great work through a ‘Catholic Social Teaching week’. During the week beginning the 19th of June, each class is to come off timetable to work on a Social Action project that is close to their hearts. Class 10, are extremely concerned about the amount of litter that the pupils see in and around Trowbridge. Not only does it make Trowbridge look untidy, but it has devastating impacts on Trowbridge’s wildlife.

This is why St John’s reached out to idverde on learning that the grounds maintenance company runs monthly litter picks in Trowbridge and the Wiltshire area. In response to this query, idverde are providing litter bags, pickers and gloves to the school. In partnership with Wiltshire council, they are delivering this equipment on 19th June, ready for the children’s litter collection on 20th and 21st June, with the collection planned for the 22nd June.

idverde’s Community Engagement Manager for Wiltshire Council Paul Ashman, commented: “We were pleased to be able to offer our support to our client and St John’s Catholic Primary School  for this project.”
