idverde, Europe’s leading provider of maintenance and creation for green space, is showcasing the Mixto grass system at this year’s BTME in Harrogate. The system, which has seen significant success across sport, is the ideal material for golf course regeneration.

Mixto is hybrid grass technology that delivers triple the amount of playing time of natural grass and is specifically designed for heavy-wear playing surfaces. The unique composite system creates the right conditions for oxygenation, surface layer permeability and air-water-soil balance. It prevents waterlogging, so soggy, muddy areas are a thing of the past.

“We approached idverde to trial the Mixto system in one of our most hard-wearing areas,” says Chris Ball, Course Manager at Hillside Golf Course in Southport. “The support and preparation information from idverde was superb, the in-house install went flawlessly and the grow in very successful. Following a successful trial, we have proved that the system will work on our site and we are looking at other areas in 2023 to expand its use across the course.”

“Mixto is currently in active use in a wide range of sporting facilities,” says Stephen Tingley, Operations Manager at idverde. “This includes associated pitches of Premier League clubs, where it is invaluable for all-weather practice. It’s the ideal surface choice for golf courses that are looking for effective, long-lasting ways to rejuvenate difficult areas, fill in footpaths, or renovate sections of the course that have been damaged by heavy vehicles or significant footfall.”

Mixto benefits golf courses in a number of ways:

  • Good recovery – the resistance of the material reduces wear and delivers faster grass recovery
  • Highly cost-effective – Mixto is extremely competitive on both cost and performance
  • Safe to use – a stable, uniform surface gives additional safety, even on sloping areas
  • Compatibility – Mixto is compatible with most existing sub-bases
