idverde Supports Tree Planting In Becket’s Park

As part of our commitment to community engagement with Northampton Borough Council idverde was delighted to facilitate a tree planting event in Beckets Park for enthusiastic volunteers from Buddies of Beckets, better known as BOB.

In total seven new trees were planted across the park to replace trees that have been lost over a period of time particularly along the avenues. idverde’s Tree and Woodland Officer, Ben Lloyd, commented: “We have opted for a variety of different trees as this will add to the diversity of trees already found in the park such as the Indian Bean and Wingnut trees. We are planting with the help of Buddies of Beckets for the future and to ensure this lovely green oasis next to the town continues to thrive.”

The volunteers got stuck in and helped to plant two Liquidamber trees opposite each other along the tree avenue. Other tree varieties planted included red oak, fastigiate oak and a tulip tree.

idverde’s Midlands Development Manager, Nicola Clarke, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Northampton Borough Council and Buddies of Beckets to help restore the historic avenue within the park. The new trees will add colour and I am looking forward to working with Buddies of Beckets on future projects in the park.”
