idverde is a regular supporter of National Tree Week, the UK’s largest annual tree celebration, and was pleased to once again contribute to the event locally by gifting and planting 25 fruit trees in Branston Avenue in Barrow-upon-Soar, Loughborough.
The trees selected for planting at Branston Avenue were four different fruit tree species:
Sadly, due to the restrictions in place due to Coronavirus, it was not possible to make this a community event as we would have liked to do in normal circumstances. However, seven of our idverde colleagues – Ciaran Fern, Adrian Lord, Shane Glover, Dan Jarram, Dale Haywood, Liam Richardson, Tom Findlay – happily applied boots to spades and made a great job of planting and staking the trees so that they would be protected against the winter weather.
The team were also encouraged in their labours by the many members of the public using the footpath which traverses Branston Avenue. All were delighted that the trees had been gifted to the site for National Tree Week, and there were many promises of homemade jam, and even wine, once the trees are mature enough to bear fruit.
idverde is very pleased to have supported National Tree Week in Charnwood again this year, and looks forward to seeing the Branston Avenue fruit trees grow and mature. We hope that they will be enjoyed by local people and visitors for many years to come.
