The Project

Before we started work on Finaghy Primary schools sports pitch, our colleagues at idverde identified that the drainage on site was poor, the existing pitch surface was in a poor state and the asphalt sub-base had started to fail.

The Challenges

The main challenges on this project was to ensure that any alteration and repair works, took into consideration the existing site levels. We were able to do this by carrying out detailed topographical surveys prior to work starting to allow us to establish existing vs. proposed levels.

Levels were checked regularly and at site completion, we carried out a detailed topographical survey to ensure the project was delivered to specification.

In order to maximise downtime for surveying, the site surveys were carried out by drone, accurate to +-2mm and results of the survey were available within 15 minutes of the exercise.

Our Role

We removed the pitch and began to excavate out areas that had subsided.

New asphalt was laid and additional regulating was also carried out to repair low spots.

We then had to manipulate the site perimeter kerb levels to meet the new site levels and along with this, alterations to drainage were carried out.

A new shock pad was laid and synthetic surface complete with stitched in markings was installed.

The Results

All works on Finaghy Primary School sports pitch were delivered within an 8 week build period with no accidents or incidents!
