The Project

idverde carried out a detailed survey report the result of which showed the pitch playing surface at Ashfield Boys school was not safe. We were then asked to prepare a solution for remedial works.

Our Role

idverde designed the pitch to FIFA standards, we lifted the existing carpet on the pitch and removed the existing sub-base in areas of failure. A new sub-base was imported and the entire sub-base was regraded using dozers with latest in laser technology.

idverde completed drainage alterations and improvement works including a new shock pad and a new synthetic surface. Pitch markings were stitched into the carpet and new corner flags were placed on the pitch. Repairs and alterations to fencing and netting were also necessary and provision of equipment like balls and cones etc. were included.

The Challenges

Works had to be carried out within a live working school environment. This was done by phasing the bulk of the works over the festive break when the school would be empty and pupils at the school would be absent.

The Results

This was a major success with the school teaming up with a local Irish League football team who have now agreed to use the pitch 2 days a week for their training sessions.
