Training for Success Programme

Clanrye’s Training for Success programme allows young people aged 16-22 with a recognised learning difficulty/disability  prepare for the world of work by providing training and employability support. We at idverde are happy to support the young students during their placements to help them gain on-site knowledge and skills to enhance their employability.

The Placement Programme

The two Clanrye Ltd students, William and Ben, from Craigavon had their placement in Portadown, Northern Ireland. The students who are completing a level 1 horticulture course, were with idverde under chargehands William Frizzell and Johnny McAdams for 6-8 weeks for 1 day per week learning key skills and gaining on site experience.  One student previously attended our work experience day with the creations team at the Armagh Planetarium and has been excited to work with us ever since. The students carried out tasks like litter picking, clearing shrubs and hedge cuttings and using a knapsack blower, the students enjoyed the experience and were happy to learn and gain knowledge of idverde’s grounds maintenance services and on the students last day with us they received a goody bag for their great work during their placement.

Our employability manager, Laura Henderson quoted “We’re delighted to have the students on board to help improve their employability skills as well as give them practical experience within the Horticulture industry – an industry in which both young men are passionate about. The placement will enable them to experience providing a high quality grounds maintenance service to a range of clients, assisting with grass cutting, maintenance of hard surfaces, weed control and maintaining hedges/shrubs as well as flower beds.”
