Celebrating International Volunteer Day | #IVD2021

Sunday 5th December marks International Volunteer Day. This year, the theme is “Volunteer now for our common future”, which inspires organisations and individuals to take action to help the people and the planet. The theme, which is being run by United Nations, is all about taking action today to build a better place for future generations.

idverde understands the importance of caring for the environment and works together with local organisations and communities to improve sustainability and biodiversity. We have been involved with a range of projects, with our team volunteering over 5900 hours so far in 2021 to key projects.

We believe in giving back to communities and with a team of talented grounds maintenance, horticulture, and arboriculture teams we are able to support in bringing local projects to life.

idverde has been approached by a number of groups to support with projects, and we wanted to highlight the great work achieved by local communities. Here are just a few of the key projects we’ve been involved in:

Wildlife Ways, Solihull Council

idverde planted 2.7 million bulbs during autumn 2019 and Solihull residents were treated to spectacular displays of crocuses, snowdrops and native daffodils along roads and in parks the following spring. This autumn, idverde has planted another million bulbs, bringing even more colour to Solihull’s parks, verges and open spaces for spring 2021.

In addition to getting hands-on, idverde supports local projects through our Community Investment Fund. This fund helps to support community-led projects in areas where we work to improve green spaces and enhance the local environment and the wellbeing of residents. The cost supports a variety of activities including promotion, marketing, education and practical equipment and running costs.
