Specification: To create a level surface with improved drainage
We were asked to look at a pitch for Coventry Football Club. The current pitch was uneven and suffered from poor drainage, which made it a difficult surface to play on reliably.
The club wanted to create a level playing surface with much-improved drainage. We used laser levelling equipment to correct the original uneven surface and maintained overall levels by working from the centre of the pitch down and out to the wings and touchlines. We installed drainage at 4-metre centres running the length of the pitch and applied a 50mm sand layer which was then laser-levelled before the Mixto surface was installed.
For this project, we used 8,800m2 of Mixto which was infilled on site with 650 tonnes of sand.
