idverde, in partnership with the Wiltshire Employment Support Team (WEST), is proud to celebrate the successful completion of a 24-week supported internship placement by Tyler, a young adult with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This collaboration highlights the power of inclusive employment and the positive impact of workplace partnerships.
The partnership began in November 2024 following a careers fair at Trowbridge County Hall. It was there that idverde first connected with the WEST team and met Tyler, leading to an informal interview and the beginning of a meaningful journey.
The supported internship year sees interns spending valuable time in the workplaces learning skills that enable them to successfully move into work, starting with idverde in January 2025, with an initial 12-week placement working 16 hours per week. After a comprehensive induction at the Trowbridge office, Tyler continued his training at the Devizes depot. His hands-on experience included hedge and shrub pruning, litter collection, and grass cutting on Wiltshire Council-owned land. Due to his strong performance, the placement was extended for an additional 12 weeks, during which Tyler worked with the grass cutting team across the North and East Wiltshire areas.
Although a permanent position was not available at the end of the internship, Tyler’s contribution was deeply valued by the idverde team and should enable him to successfully apply for similar roles.
An exit discussion was held with Tyler, his job coach Rob Wilson (WEST), Paul Ashman (idverde), and Craig Campbell (Wiltshire Council), providing valuable feedback and insights for future internships. Tyler was presented with a certificate to mark the successful completion of his placement.
This partnership reflects idverde’s ongoing commitment to inclusive employment and community engagement, and sets a strong foundation for future collaborations with WEST and Wiltshire College
