Spring planting brings new life to Bancroft Gardens herbaceous beds

Visitors to Bancroft Gardens may have noticed us working hard on the shrub and herbaceous beds over the Winter, clearing out and preparing them ready for a better display this Summer.

During January and February, the team repainted and reinstated the climber stands, cut back old growth ready for regeneration and redefined the edge of the lawn.  A number of species were replanted before the growth season started again in the Spring. The shrub and herbaceous borders have now reinstated dramatically.  Species that can be found within the border include:

  • Delphinium (blue)
  • Achilla Moonshine
  • Vinca minor
  • Dicentra pearl drops
  • Dicentra bleeding hearts
  • Dahlia Moonfire
  • Aster Michaelas Daisy
  • Hosta Gold Standard
  • Iris Jane Phillips
  • Kniphofia Atlanta
  • Perovskia Blue Spire
  • Allium Cristophii
  • Liatris Spicata
  • Penstamens (perennial type)
  • Lupin Russell hybrid
