New Stratford-on-Avon District Grounds Maintenance Contract Commences

idverde is pleased to announce that our initial five-year grounds maintenance and horticultural services partnership with Stratford-on-Avon District Council commenced on 1st April 2013.

Following the Easter break, the transferring team arrived ready to begin their induction programmes on Tuesday 2nd April. From now, residents of Stratford District will see idverde’s operatives in their distinctive black and green uniforms working throughout the District.

Michelle Maybury, Operations Director at idverde comments: “I was delighted to be there to welcome all of the transferring staff on the first day of this exciting new contract with Stratford-on-Avon District Council.  I was very impressed with the motivated and positive attitudes of the team, who all seem ready to take on the new challenge of working as part of idverde team.”

The new contract with Stratford-on-Avon is significant for idverde as it is based on a variant bid supplied by the Group during the competitive tender process.

In order to come up with a fresh approach, the District Council asked interested contractors to consider how the town’s green spaces could be improved. All bidding firms put together a variant bid with added-value proposals, in addition to providing a core bid, with idverde’s proposals demonstrating the best value.  idverde will also offer support to In-Bloom groups across the District, encouraging residents to value their green spaces, and exchanging ideas and best practice from our other contracts such as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Paul Slack, Assistant Operations Director at idverde comments: “In these days of increasingly restrictive budgets, we’ve worked hard to come up with an operational solution that can improve the quality of the horticultural service without adding to the cost.  We are re-programming the grass cutting so that we keep the highest profile areas looking good and not exceeding a certain height.  We’ve also invested significantly in new machinery to ensure reliability.”

Tony Perks, Head of Technical Services at Stratford-on-Avon District Council says:  “We look forward to working in partnership with idverde in delivering a value for money, innovative Grounds Management service for the residents of and visitors to the district.  This new contract not only meets the service criteria our residents told us they wanted, it also offers an improved specification at a much reduced cost to us.”
