Stratford-on-Avon District Council

Stratford-on-Avon District Council

Stratford on Avon District Council is one of the largest district councils by area in the country, covering nearly half of Warwickshire (378 square miles), with a population of over 115,200 people in nearly 55,000 households.

With rolling countryside, bustling market towns, historic mansions and pretty little villages, Stratford District is an attractive part of the country, and benefits from millions of visitors who come here each year. Many of them come to pay homage to William Shakespeare, born in Stratford upon Avon in 1564, and to get a glimpse of life in 16th century England through the five Shakespeare properties that are preserved in and around the town.

The Shakespeare connection is renowned throughout the world, and tourism generated by the ‘Bard’ is a key part of the local economy, although the traditional agricultural aspect of the District still plays an important role, and with the excellent motorway and road networks serving the area there is a growing commercial presence in the area with organisations such as Aston Martin, Jaguar Land Rover, Codemasters, Sitel UK and the Royal Shakespeare Company all siting their headquarters here.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is committed to improving the environment of this area, and ensuring that the District is run in as sustainable a manner as is possible. There are many different services that work together to ensure that we can all live and work in safe, attractive and healthy places.

idverde is now a part of this, and will be working in partnership with the council to manage and maintain its green spaces for the benefit of all. Stratford-on-Avon’s parks and green spaces are an important part of what makes the district a pleasant place to live, work and visit. They offer space for relaxation and recreation that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Under this Grounds Management Contract, we will be maintaining the following areas:

  • Bancroft Gardens
  • The Recreation Ground
  • Shottery Fields
  • 9 Village Greens
  • 36 Public Open Spaces
  • 16 Play Areas
  • Highway Verges within speed restricted areas

This will include a variety of works including grass cutting, litter picking, safety monitoring, floral planting and shrub maintenance. All of which is detailed in more detail on these pages, and the Council’s website at www.stratford.gov.uk

Maintenance Rounds

idverde carries out out a range of grounds maintenance activities throughout Stratford-on-Avon including grass cutting, shrub and bedding maintenance, litter bin emptying and many other maintenance tasks.

Stratford District Council and idverde have agreed that both urban and rural verges will now be cut on a frequency basis of 9 times per annum (March – October).

Please note:  Grass cutting cycle details are approximate, as variable weather conditions can have a significant effect on when we are able to cut the grass.

The ‘Next Cut’ dates given below are based on a ‘week commencing’ schedule.
