As part of idverde’s commitment to supporting volunteering and community-based activities, Midlands Horticultural Development Manager, Nicola Clarke, and staff from our Hodge Hill Contract were delighted to work in partnership with Birmingham City Council and The Friends of Ward End Park in support of Keep Britain Tidy’s national Great British Spring Clean campaign.
The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with a simple aim to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches. The Friends of Ward End Park joined the growing army of Litter Heroes who have had enough of other people’s litter and are willing to do something about it.
Traditionally this annual event takes place on the first weekend in March. However, this year’s litter pick in Ward End Park had to be postponed by several weeks due to the severe cold and snow brought in by the ‘Beast from the East’.
With the support of idverde and local volunteers, the Friends managed to collect over 15 sacks of litter and other small bits of fly-tipping from around the park.
idverde was delighted to participate alongside the Friends who played their part in helping to make Birmingham’s Ward End Park a cleaner place for all the community to enjoy.
