In response to increasing financial pressures on public organisations, Optivo housing association, Hastings Borough Council and Rother District Council have taken an innovative approach by working together when sourcing grounds maintenance services.
The three organisations formed a unique grounds maintenance partnership with the primary aim of maximising economies of scale when seeking a new grounds maintenance contractor. By grouping together and employing a single contractor, working from a unified hub, the partnership has streamlined the delivery of grounds maintenance services in the area.
idverde started on site in November 2012, and we are now delivering grounds maintenance services throughout the area, which includes all of the parks and seafront flower beds in Hastings and Rother area.
To meet the varied needs of each party, we have put a significant amount of work into reviewing the requirements of all three clients and devising an operational solution. The approach that we have generated aims to deliver a quality service to all, but through streamlining operations across all three client areas, achieving this at lower cost to local residents.
One of these operational solutions has been to take a neighbourhood-team approach, which will reduce travel time and allow our staff to focus on their local patch and be more responsive to local needs. This approach encourages a sense of ownership from our local teams, as well as making the most of the local knowledge within our teams.
idverde carries out out a range of grounds maintenance activities throughout the Hastings and Rother area including grass cutting, shrub and bedding maintenance, litter bin emptying and many other maintenance idverde is also responsible for a range of grounds maintenance activities across Optivo sites.
Within the Hastings Borough Council boundary idverde on behalf of East Sussex County Council is required to maintain the grass verges adjacent to highways with a requirement to cut the grass on five occasions throughout the year, the idverde have no responsibility to cut road side verges within the Rother District Council Boundary.
