idverde UK and its clients had 100 reasons to celebrate when the results of this year’s Green Flag Awards were announced last month.
idverde UK now maintains 100 of the best parks across the UK, which have been deemed fit to fly the Green Flag in recognition of their high quality.
1,686 Green Flags were awarded to parks and green spaces across the UK this year, in what was another record-breaking year for the award scheme.
The total includes 25 Green Flags in the London Borough of Southwark, which means Southwark Council can now claim the second highest number of Green Flags held by a London Borough, and the third highest number held by an English local authority.
This year’s Green Flags were presented to council parks teams and community groups at four regional ceremonies, which were sponsored by The Landscape Group idverde.
Green Flag Award scheme Manager Paul Todd said:
“We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, especially as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Awards. “All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
