About the role

The Bromley model of Delegated Sports Management remains largely unique insofar as the latitude delegated managers to have in respect of permission for locally-devolved governance, championing initiatives and supporting the increasing number of external fundraising opportunities with regard to sport delivery in parks and green spaces.

A Delegated Sports Manager (DSM) position with a delegated management pitch licence and lease for the pavilion has arisen at Croydon Road Recreation Ground.  This is an opportunity to deliver a delegated sports management programme in an area that is becoming increasingly community-led, offering the chance to work alongside established park stakeholders.  The pavilion is suitable for junior, not senior, football.

Requirements:

  • The DSM will need to maintain good working relations with the existing Friends of the park group, Beckenham Bowling Club, authorised fitness trainers and the café leaseholder.
  • Applicants should be aware that the pavilion is currently undergoing condition inspections and that the successful DSM will need to lead with procuring funding, such as grants, for the improvement of the pavilion.  idverde, the Council’s parks management and grounds maintenance service provider will provide the necessary support and development.
  • The Delegated Sports Management programme needs to consider how the ground will offer sport throughout the week for the local community.
  • Whilst the inspections are being carried out, we are accepting applications of interest from individuals, established clubs and businesses.
  • For the first stage, applications should give us an idea of their experience running sporting and community engagement and a short overview of their vision for this exciting project.
  • Following this stage, the needs and concerns of the stakeholders and specifications of the pavilion and grounds will be shared to enable you to build on your proposed plan.

If you are shortlisted by the committee, comprised of one representative from each of the following: Bromley Council, idverde, local councillors and the Friends of the park group, you will be sent a date to present a business plan for the site at interview.

If you feel you have the required skills and experience, please send a covering letter and/or your up-to-date CV to the email address below quoting DSMCRR.
