The Landscape Group (TLG) has been awarded the contract to restore Houghton Hall Park in Houghton Regis by Central Bedfordshire Council.
Houghton Hall Park is a publicly accessible, 17 hectare urban public park, located centrally within the town of Houghton Regis. The Park has a rich heritage that is valued by the local community. It plays an important role in the history, culture and landscape of the local area. The Renaissance and Renewal Project which is a partnership between Central Bedfordshire Council and Houghton Regis Town Council with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery aims to restore the vitality of the park, celebrating local heritage and improving visitor facilities to meet the needs of a growing local community.
TLG have been awarded the contract to carry out restoration works including tree works and woodland management; restoration of the walls of the walled garden; the creation of a new formal garden; installing new estate type fencing, gateways and pathways and preparatory works for a new play trail. TLG will also work closely with the local community and the Friends of Houghton Hall Park to provide volunteering opportunities to be involved in the works and to learn more about their local park and its wildlife.
The project started in late February with completion expected to be by Christmas 2016.
