idverde has been working in partnership with Curo Housing Group since November 2010 after being awarded a contract for 5 years in 2010 following a tendering process against stiff competition. The contract included a two-year extension which was exercised by Curo Housing Group resulting in the contract running until 2017. When the contract was subsequently re-tendered, idverde was delighted to re-win the contract for a further five-year term, commencing in April 2017.

At commencement of the initial contract idverde (then trading as The Landscape Group) completed a transfer of employees under TUPE and undertook a process of integration and cultural change. This was necessary to train existing staff to specifications to improve productivity, achieve excellent service delivery and increase customer care with the objective being for all resident queries to be dealt with directly by idverde.

idverde put in place a new management team at the start of 2011 who were more focused on delivering the service in the current competitive commercial atmosphere while being sympathetic to the needs of all Curo Housing Group residents. A significant investment in plant and equipment was also undertaken at start-up tailored to suit the needs of the contract and landscape.

The services being delivered across the Curo Housing Group is wide ranging and includes:

  • Grass Cutting
  • Planted area maintenance
  • Shrub and Hedge maintenance
  • Hard surface maintenance
  • Leaf collection
  • Pedestrian Controlled Sweep and Hand Sweeping of hard surfaces
  • Bulk refuse collections and Fly Tipping removal
  • Resident gardens scheme
  • Playground Inspection and Repairs
    Gritting and Snow clearing
  • Ad – hoc works

As part of the agreement to promote sustainable communities, idverde provides a proposal for reinvestment into the communities at the end of each anniversary of the contract which is always a percentage of the contract’s proceeding annual value. The management teams of both idverde and Curo Housing Group mutually agree the nature of this works-in-kind together with the locations and timescales for the investment.

idverde assists with the removal of approximately 300 tonnes of bulk household and associated waste from bin rooms and Curo Housing Group land each year, which requires a dedicated bulk waste team. The contract also produces approx. 2,000m³ green waste each year which is recycled by a recycling supplier.

Another requirement of this contract was the need for a dedicated team to be set up to deal with the client’s Assisted Gardens Scheme. As this scheme deals with mainly older residents it was important to carefully select operatives with a sympathetic yet commercially aware skills set.

idverde utilises a shared online GIS system with the client to produce its own site maps and continually works with the client to keep these updated and accurate. Continuous monitoring of the contract both internally and by the client is an important factor to ensure the service is delivered on time and value for money is maintained.

idverde is committed to the environment as part of ISO14001 and has a dedicated green waste skip at the depot which is managed through a local specialist recycling company.

idverde Bath runs a fully operational Depot throughout the year within Bath and the surrounding area. Our office is ideally placed on the outskirts of Bath within quick and easy reach of the city centre and the surrounding towns and parishes. The office is manned by a local management team that has many years’ experience working with Local Councils, Schools and Housing Associations in the South West Region. We also have experience of landscape construction and are happy to quote for one off projects and specialist requirements too, including construction, equipment supply and grounds maintenance, sports pitches, wildlife and biodiversity areas and arboriculture works and inspections. All the office team have dedicated email accounts and the office has a 24/7 answering service when not staffed. (Office hours 07.30am-16.30pm Monday – Friday)

All our teams are headed by permanent members of staff who have a number of years’ experience of the areas they cover, and by keeping staff rotation to a minimum our teams are encouraged to take ownership of their rounds. All staff are appropriately trained within their specialist disciplines, are DBS checked where this is a requirement of their role, and undergo annual development reviews which gives the opportunity for feedback from both sides and ensures that our programme of staff training is tailored correctly.

Due to the seasonal nature of the grounds maintenance industry idverde Bath employs a high number of seasonal staff throughout the peak period to ensure that all contract specification is met. All potential candidates go through a thorough interview and induction process to ensure that only quality staff are employed. This is borne out by the fact that a high proportion of our seasonal staff return to us year after year safe in the knowledge of a secure work contract usually lasting up to 8 – 9 months.
