idverde UK, through its subsidiary company, Quadron Services, commenced delivery of Cherwell and South Northamptonshire Councils’ Landscape Services contract on 1 April 2015.

The six-year contract covers horticultural maintenance including grass cutting, sports pitches, floral provision and arboricultural work for the two authorities.

Approximately 17 permanent and 10 seasonal staff transferred to Quadron from the Councils’ previous contractor, and Quadron’s mobilisation team spent a week on site at the start of the contract to ensure a smooth transition. They carried out induction training on standards, policies and procedures, health and safety and small plant, and members of the HR team were also on hand to answer any queries.

Our delivery methods support the Councils’ visions for their green spaces and their requirements for good management, sustainability and accessibility within an ethos of continuous improvement and efficiency.

We utilise robust internal self-monitoring and KPI-based performance measurement systems to ensure the meeting of contract standards. We have also embraced recent advances in mobile technology and telemetrics, using in-cab trackers on all vehicles and front-line mowers to record daily hours of usage and optimise route programming for maximum productivity. Dates of the visits by key maintenance teams to sites throughout the district are also published on our website (see links above) so that residents can see when maintenance has been carried out in their area.

Other initiatives that we are delivering include offering a position for a locally recruited horticultural apprentice and creating more opportunities to involve the public in their parks and open spaces through volunteering and similar activities.

Commenting at the start of the contract, Tony Ilott, Cherwell District Council’s Lead Member for Clean and Green, said: “Quadron Services scored very highly in the tender evaluation process and the council is looking forward to working in partnership with them over the coming years to deliver high standards of landscape maintenance throughout its parks and open spaces.”
