Wheelbarrow Work Day

idverde was delighted to support volunteers from The Friends of West Hunsbury Parks improve sections of path within Hunsbury Hill Country Park following the recent storms Ciara and Dennis.

The unprecedented amounts of rain that fell on two consecutive weekends in the wake of these storms have resulted in large puddles forming on some parts of the pathways and them becoming excessively muddy in places.

Armed with their wheelbarrows, volunteers from the Friends of Hunsbury Parks moved wood chippings from the Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust’s compound to help make temporary repairs on some of the paths.

A small section of the sunken path between the current railway line and Hunsbury Close gardens, and the worst area of mud around the exits of the big ‘playground’ field onto Drovers Road/Green Lane at the eastern end of the field were improved and made more accessible by laying down the bark chipping that helped to absorb the excess water.

Grateful thanks go to Roger from the Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway who kindly made the bark chippings available to the volunteers and opened up the compound especially for the path works to be carried out.

idverde will be delighted to support The Friends group with further temporary path repairs that are required by supplying additional bark chippings to that already available from the Northampton Ironstone Railway Trust.
